Bee Vradenburg Foundation is teaming with the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado to award a $10,000 prize to one community-building project in 2010. And we want YOU to help us decide! Read these profiles of these five amazing projects and then tell us which one you think should be awarded $10,000 to become a reality in our city! The Art Creates Community project is made possible by:
“Zoom In!,” a film competition and public screening on the theme of “community,” produced by Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival in partnership with the Lavender Film Festival and the Indie Spirit Film Festival
“United City,” engaging neighbors in a “whole is greater than the sum of its parts” experience through the co-creation of artwork for a large-scale public mural, produced by artist Wendy Mike in partnership with the Council of Neighborhood Organizations, Downtown Partnership, City Council, FutureSelf and others
“T-Shirts for Everybody and Experiment Now!,” a summerlong series of free T-shirt artmaking and experimentation throughout the community, produced by Concrete Couch in partnership with Cool Science, FutureSelf, Pikes Peak Library District and others
“Hearts, Hands and History,” a series of arts activities for children and families culminating in a festival and exhibit, produced by the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum in partnership with the Colorado Springs Conservatory, Cottonwood Center for the Arts and others
