Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

Entry Conditions: This contest available only to those persons, 18 or older, who are legal residents of the immediate delivery area of The Gazette dba gazette.com (Sponsor) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. INTERNET ACCESS AND EMAIL ADDRESS REQUIRED TO ENTER. FREE INTERNET ACCESS IS AVAILABLE AT MANY PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

Employees of Sponsor, any affiliate of Sponsor, any of their advertising or promotional agencies, any Sponsor of any prize offered in this contest or any business or entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of this contest, and their immediate family members (meaning spouses, parents, siblings and children living in the same household) are not eligible to enter or win.

Entry Timeframe: Contest begins October 1, 2008 12:00:01 AM Mountain Time and ends October 23, 2008, 11:59:59 a.m. Mountain Time.

How to Enter: Navigate the Internet to www.gazette.com/halloween and click onto the enter link to be connected to the Contest Registration Form. Complete all requested information. Following registration, (which is free), you will be directed to submit your photo(s) in JPEG, JPG format, in one of three (3) contest categories as follows:

Photo Contest Submission Photo Categories. All Entries must be G-Rated Only.

• Best Pet in Costume

You may enter as many pictures as you'd like, but only one person /one pet and / or one pumpkin per picture entry, please. To enter, go to www.gazette.com/halloween

Each entry must include the participant's and / or pet name, city of residence and your name.

Winner eligibility is limited only to those that live in the immediate delivery of The Gazette newspaper in Colorado Springs, Colorado USA and the Pikes Peak region. (Submitters may live anywhere.)

Winner in each category will be determined by judges from the Sponsor whose decisions are final.

You may submit photos within each of the 3 photo categories, but there is a limit of one prize per household. You must be the photographer of each photo(s) you submit and have the permission of any person used as a subject of the photo. Use of stock photos is not allowed. Photo(s) can be taken by any type of camera, but must be submitted digitally in JPEG, JPG format at gazette.com/halloween. Entries without all of the required blanks completed will be disqualified. All late, lost, or incomplete entries are not considered valid entries. Any form of entry, other than as specified in these rules (including but not limited to automated, copied, third-party or mechanically reproduced entries) is prohibited and they will be disqualified. Sponsor will be collecting personal data about participants when they register and enter the contest. By participating in the contest, entrants agree to all of the terms and conditions of the privacy policies of the Sponsor. By entering you agree to be bound by these official rules and the decisions of the Sponsor which will be final and binding in all respects. The official rules will be posted at the contest website throughout the contest.

Prizes: A total of three (3) First Prizes (Each First Prize to be determined from among all entries in each of the three categories), will receive: A SONY® DSC-W55 Digital Still Camera (approx. retail value = $199.99 and (1) one SONY® MSX-M1GST Memory Stick PRO Duo approx retail value = $29.99).

Winners will be decided on October 24th, 2008. Winners are scheduled to appear on the Tuesday Life cover of the October 28th, 2008 edition of The Gazette.

Prizes may not be substituted or transferred, except if any prize becomes unavailable, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize of equal or greater value. Taxes and any other expenses not listed above are responsibility of winners. Limit one prize per household. You are not a contest winner until validated and you receive official notification.

General Contest Rules & Regulations

1. No purchase necessary.

2. Employees of The Gazette dba gazette.com and their immediate families are ineligible to win. Winner must be a Colorado resident and must possess a valid Driver’s license and/or Social Security card.
3. Only one (1) winner per household, every 30 days, among all gazette.com contests.

4. Winners will be notified by gazette.com via phone or e-mail and have 48 hours to make arrangements to receive the prize.

5. Winner must be 18 years of age or older at the time of selection unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Unclaimed prizes shall remain the property of gazette.com and may not be sold, exchanged or otherwise transferred by winners.

6 .By accepting a prize, the winner agrees to give Sponsor permission to reproduce their voice, likeness and any biographical information. Sponsor may utilize said information for promotional announcements, advertising, and other promotional tools in perpetuity.

7. As a condition of winning, no contest winner may represent, or appear in an advertisement for any other area media-based Web site, other than Sponsor for a period of one year from the date they win this contest. Winners also may not grant interviews about their participation in any gazette.com contests without prior written permission of gazette.com. Additionally, no prize may be used in any way that would be disparaging to Sponsor.

8. By accepting a prize, the winner agrees to release Sponsor from any and all liability resulting from participation in the contest and/or acceptance or use of any prize.

9. Winner is solely responsible for any and all associated taxes. If necessary, winner should expect to receive a tax form 1099 for the value of the prize as provided by current tax laws. The specific value of the prize will be disclosed on the accompanying prize release form. Unless otherwise specified herein, any non-cash prize cannot be redeemed for cash, gazette.com reserves the right to replace and /or substitute a like prize of equal value, should the specified prize not be available.

10. Should a winner die before claiming his or her prize, said prize will be awarded to winner’s estate subject to all other applicable laws.

11. Odds of winning in online contests depend on the number of entries received by the contest deadline.

12. Sponsor reserves the right to amend these rules as necessary. By entering any gazette.com contest, contestants agree to be bound by these official rules.

13. Sponsor may, at its discretion, require the winner to claim their prize in person at The Gazette dba gazette.com business office. The winner may also, at the discretion of gazette.com, be required to execute a Liability/Publicity Release form and Affidavit of Eligibility and to provide legal photo identification and a valid Social Security card.

14. Official contest rules are available for public inspection during regular business hours weekdays, except holidays or extended holiday weekends, at The Gazette dba gazette.com offices located at 30 South Prospect Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, or may be requested by mailing a self-addressed stamped envelope to the business office, attention Marketing department.

15. All contests from The Gazette / gazette.com are subject to all applicable laws and regulations and are void where prohibited.
